CONADEP - National Commission on the Disappearence of Persons


In 1984 the CONADEP inspected dozens of places and found that they had functioned as clandestine detention centers during the last military dictatorship. Throughout this investigation the Commission took more than two thousand photographs all over the country. Here we present a selection of the images that were taken by Enrique Shore and form part of the documentary collection of Memoria Abierta.

Fragment of the testimony that Emilce Moler (surviving at The Night of the Pencils)


To present and to promote one of the present debates around the collective memory, Memoria Abierta gathered a fragment of the testimony that Emilce Moler (surviving at The Night of the Pencils) contributed to our Oral Archive and a text of Sandra Raggio titled The Night of the Pencils and the times of memory. Both resources invite to think about the meanings involved on the ways of relating the recent history of our country.

Photographic library of ARGRA


The Association of Graphic Reporters of the Republic Argentina is a Professional Association that gathers Photojournalists. ARGRA develops its activities throughout the defence of the freedom of press, the right to information, the human rights and royalties. Many of the photographers that integrate the association portrayed with their camera images related to human rights violations during the last military dictatorship. Many of these photographs can be consulted in their website.

Trial of Madrid


This virtual gallery is composed of photographs that Alejandro Cherep took during the years in which Judge Baltasar Garzón brought forth charges for the disappearance of Argentine and Spanish citizens during the last military dictatorship. The Argentine photographer has resided in Spain since 1990 and covered the trials as the graphic correspondent for the newspaper “Clarín”.
