Together with the Center for Legal and Social Studies
and the Association for Civil Rights, Memoria Abierta
participates in the processes of demand of diverse state
instances to achieve the declassification of documents
relating to the period of dictatorship.
Museum of Memory
Memoria Abierta works towards the creation of a space
that tells of what occurred during the period of political
violence and State terrorism in Argentina.
We understand a museum as a place for democratic
learning through reflection on what took place in
the past. In this context, we support the state initiative
to construct a “Space for Memory and the Promotion
and Defense of Human Rights” in the territory
of the Navy Mechanics School (ESMA).
One of the principal objectives of Memoria Abierta is
to facilitate access to the different sources that conform
our archive.
In order to access the Oral, Photographic, or Audiovisual
Archives, contact

Audiovisual
Archive
Memoria
Abierta has gathered more than 50 audiovisual productions
linked to pertinent themes with the objective of offering
them for public consultation and to guarantee their
preservation.
The collective database, which
can be consulted on our web page, was put together
after the organization of more than 25,000 documents
that form part of the archive of Memoria Abierta
and the member organizations.
Oral
Archive
The Oral
Archive includes more than 450 testimonies referring
to the history and memory of the State terrorism in
Argentina and the different actions taken by human rights
organizations and civil society in the search for truth
and justice.
The photographic archive contains
more than 16,000 images that document the period of State
terrorism, its antecedents and consequences, and the subsequent
search for truth and justice.
Record of
Events
Memoria
Abierta films different events relating to the memory
of State terrorism. These records document the
different initiatives undertaken by civil society and
the State, constituting a rich source for research.
Memoria Abierta teaches teacher-training courses
on the problems related to history and memory,
the recent past and oral history, political conflicts,
State terrorism, and human rights in Argentina,
among others. For this purpose, Memoria Abierta
establishes links with entities such as the Center
of Pedagogies of Anticipation of the Secretary
of Education of the City of Buenos Aires (CePA)
and the Unified Syndicate of Education Workers
in the Province of Buenos Aires (SUTEBA).
